Are you looking for a rewarding new opportunity? We are very excited to share a vacancy we have at Ifield School.

We are seeking to appoint a Music and Arts Assistant. The successful candidate will be employed for 37 hours per week, term time only, salary Kent Range 5 £24,040 to £25,002 FTE (pro rata) + SEN Allowance, depending on experience. In addition, the postholder will receive a payment in respect of their pro rata entitlement to Annual Leave appropriate to their grade, Bank Holidays and the KCC concessionary day. 

 

Hours of work will be Monday to Thursday 08.30am – 4.30pm & Friday 08.30am – 4.00pm.

 

Key responsibilities/ duties of the Music & Arts Assistant may include:

  • Supporting the process of teaching and learning of music under the direction and guidance of the music specialist to ensure that pupils make good or outstanding progress, across all key stages.
  • Preparing the learning environment and supporting in music lessons across all key stages.
  • Supporting with recording and assessment of music under the guidance of the music specialist to ensure pupils good or outstanding progress is recorded and monitored efficiently.
  • Uploading evidence to Evidence for Learning in draft format.
  • Supporting key Arts projects in school.
  • Supporting with offsite educational visits and performances.
  • Leading art activities during Arts week.
  • Covering music classes in the absence of the music specialist using the teacher’s
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a professional attitude is paramount, with a strong focus on understanding GDPR and the importance of confidentiality and discretion. 

The candidate must have:

  • Specialist SEND experience working with children and young adults.
  • NVQ level 2 supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent, alongside GSCE grades C or above in Maths and English (you will be required to produce original certificates).
  • Music qualification or strong experience playing / understanding music is essential
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to use own initiative and manage own workload.
  • Patience, understanding and resilience to work in a Special school.
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about supporting and working with pupils with severe and complex needs.
  • Computer literacy with sound ICT skills

 

Additional skills set would be an advantage:

  • Multi-lingual skills to support EAL pupils
